One of the most stunning smaller towns in the state, Black Mountain is situated in one of the most magnificent surroundings you can find in North Carolina. The tallest mountains on the East Coast cast their shadow over the town. Mount Mitchell is directly accessible through trails from our community. It is the ideal place to start for a variety of outdoor pursuits, such as:
- Hiking along the many miles of trails in our region
- Mountain biking in some of the East Coast’s top bike regions
- Our numerous rivers and creeks offer whitewater rafting, kayaking, tubing, and other water sports.
- Angling with a fly on renowned trout waters
- In the hundreds of thousands of acres of protected forests, you can go camping and backpacking.
Each year, we receive between forty and fifty inches of rain, most of which falls in the summer. When you have outside plans, the weather just doesn’t always cooperate. Here are a few alternatives in the area around Black Mountain.
What to Do on a Rainy Day in and Around Black Mountain
1) Explore the Pinball Museum in Asheville
How many places have a pinball museum? Asheville has a 70-game museum dedicated to pinball. Sixty-five players at a time can relive the glory days of arcades or experience pinball for the first time. This is a great rainy day activity to keep the kids busy.
2) Go Out To Eat
There are several restaurants in Black Mountain. Each one is unique and worth visiting. There are also several independent retail shops, all of which are happy to help make sure you’re entertained on a rainy day.
3) Drive on The Parkway
If it is safe to drive, rainy days on the parkway can be extremely delightful. However, it’s not a good day for a trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway if it’s too foggy to see or too wet to hydroplane. Even while you might not be able to see the expansive views for which the Parkway is famous, rain-soaked mountains have a strange beauty all their own.
4) Play Laser Tag
Over the past few years, laser tag has advanced significantly. Our cutting-edge laser tag experience is similar to a real-life video game. You’ll experience immersion in Star Wars (which was the original inspiration for laser tag). You are not required to wear a bulky vest. Your blaster transmits information and results wirelessly to our arena monitors.
5) Experience GellyBall
If you haven’t tried it already, GellyBall is a brand-new, ground-breaking shooting game that expertly combines the best features of paintball and airsoft.
GellyBall ammunition is almost entirely comprised of water, and it is biodegradable. It won’t leave any stains and is non-toxic. Because GellyBall ammunition is low-impact, it doesn’t feel like paintball or airsoft; rather, it feels somewhat like being flicked by a rubber band.
The GellyBall age range is five years old. The battery-operated blasters are simple to operate. They have a sixty-foot accuracy range and are simple to use. Getting to play GellyBall may actually leave you grateful for a rainy day in Black Mountain.
You can play laser tag and GellyBall at Black Mountain Adventure Zone. Reach out to us to book your rainy day party today!
