Our Story
BMAZ began in 2019 as Elite Action Gaming mobile laser tag services and expanded to include Black Mountain Adventure Zone, opening an indoor arena in Black Mountain, NC, near Asheville in 2020. Our mission was to create a space for families, friends, and thrill-seekers to enjoy action-packed entertainment, from laser tag to gellyball gel battles to VR adventures. The western North Carolina community quickly embraced our innovative offerings, and BMAZ became a cherished destination for locals and visitors alike.
In fall 2023, we expanded our vision by opening a second indoor location in Whittier, NC, situated in the picturesque Smoky Mountains region between Dillsboro and Cherokee. This new facility allowed us to serve more communities, including Cherokee, Sylva, and beyond, with even greater activities and experiences.
However, September 2024 brought an unexpected challenge. Hurricane Helene caused irreparable damage to our original Black Mountain location, forcing its permanent closure. Despite the setback, and without assistance from insurance or other resources, we remained committed to our mission and focused our energy on our Whittier location, ensuring the adventure continued for our guests.
Looking ahead to 2025, we’re rebranding as Battle Master Adventure Zone to reflect our evolution while preserving our well-known BMAZ identity. While the “Battle Master” name honors our roots in competitive play, our primary focus remains on delivering fun, family-oriented Adventure Zone with experiences that foster connection and excitement.
